Oplontis, Poppea’s villa

The city of Oplontis, the modern Torre Annunziata, was located between Herculaneum and Pompeii as a residential suburb of Pompeii, famous for the thermal spring water used for therapeutic therapies. Here it was built the villa of Poppea, Nero’s wife, the most luxurious of otium Roman villas in the Vesuvian area, also buried by the eruption of 79 AD.

Guided tour
 We will visit the entire complex, divided into porches, terraces, residential rooms and a big thermal area. You will  admire the frescoes, with their mythological and naturalistic topics, prospective colonnades and theatre masks, which demonstrate the ability of painter and the high cultural level of the purchaser.
